Billing mediation is an essential link between the
network and the business system implemented. It is the mediation process that
converts usage data into a pre-defined layout that can be imported by a
specific billing system or other applications. Typically the mediation platform
is used for the following tasks:
1.The
collection and validation of EDRs;
2.Decoding
of the EDRs;
3.The
filtering out of non billing-relevant EDRs;
4.Splitting EDRs (For example in case of a transit
call scenario);
5.Re
arranging all of the collected information into a pre determined order;
The mediation module is an integral part of Telesoft
Consultings latest Intercarrier Billing Solution I-CONN. The flexibility that
the mediation module provides allows it to be used as either a stand-alone
application or incorporated into other third party products.
Mediation Key Features
Flexible Processing
I-CONN uses a set of tasks (steps) to provide
comprehensive processing capabilities. A corresponding GUI enables the user to
specify the behaviour and the order of these tasks and what type of processing
is to be performed. Through this capability the standard tasks can be
configured to support operator-specific business logic without the need for
customisation of the standard product.
Flexible
Record Formatting
I-CONN has built-in support for all leading format
specifications such as ASN.1, Comma Separated Values (CSV) and Fixed Length. It
also provides additional support for the configuration of any data type that is
contained within those records (e.g. GSM, GPRS, SMS),
enabling user-controlled format management through the configuration. Due to
the design of the Mediation module within I-CONN the rapid addition of
vendor-specific or any new industry standard formats can be added.
Duplicate Record Detection
The Detection of duplicate records is implemented in
I-CONNs Mediation Module. This functionality reduces the chance of additional
charges being made.
